Hydrogen Gas Production (2/2)

Straight to the point!

I decided to repeat the same reaction using different reactors with another process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS), hoping to see if there will be a significant variance in the results (especially hydrogen gas) and in order to determine which reactor is ideal for future purposes.

Now I am thinking about it, which standard software should we even use for this reaction?

Why am I doing this? You may be wondering. Am I curious or is it just patent boredom?

I do hope is plain curiosity (that’s what I’m telling myself).

These were the results gotten from Aspen HYSYS, and unlike Aspen Plus outcomes, the mole fraction of Hydrogen gas was higher for each of the reactors. To add, I inputted the same feed properties that were used in my Aspen Plus simulation to get an analogous step-by-step procedure. Furthermore, the reactors used for this simulation were a Conversion reactor, a Gibbs reactor and an Equilibrium reactor.

Simulation of various reactors

In conclusion, based on the above results, a conversion reactor produced the highest amount of hydrogen gas.

The End.
